Mladá Boleslav, February 10, 2011 – The Škoda engine plant in Mladá Boleslav has produced the four millionth MQ 200 transmission. The assembly unit is laid out for engines with a torque of up to 200 Nm and will be used in models of the brands Škoda, Audi, Seat, and VW. Škoda Auto currently manufactures about 2,600 MQ 200 units per day. Furthermore, the Czech location will also produce the new MQ 100 transmission for the future "New Small Family Vehicle" by the Volkswagen Group.

Michael Oeljeklaus, the Škoda board member for Production and Logistics, emphasizes the capacity of the transmission production at the Czech location: "Four million manufactured MQ 200 transmissions are a great result. I thank all those having participated in the achievement of this jubilee."

For Oeljeklaus, the jubilee also confirms that the decision for further investments in the Škoda production of assemblies at the Mladá Boleslav location was correct. In 2009, the plant received the Group's order for the manufacture of new transmissions bearing the designation MQ 100. This transmission will be used in the "New Small Family Vehicle' of the Volkswagen Group. Currently, the first units for pre-series vehicles are in production. Overall, more than 1.5 billion Czech crowns were invested in new facilities for the MQ 100 production. 270 new jobs are being created. Every day, Škoda will produce about 1,000 units of the MQ 100 transmission.

Assembly production will cover the complete manufacturing range in Mladá Boleslav and encompass the entire production process from the foundry to the forge to the final assembly. In 2010, the engine plant at the seat of Škoda Auto achieved a new manufacturing record. With 518,221 engines and 534,033 transmissions, the threshold of one million manufactured units was exceeded for the first time.
